The extension only stores the following data locally on your device:

• Optional API Key: If you configure a SiliconFlow API key for AI analysis, it's stored locally using Chrome's storage API. This key never leaves your device and we have no access to it.

What we DON'T collect:

• ❌ Cookies or tracking data

4. Third-Party Services

To provide real-time stock data, the extension communicates with external APIs:

• Yahoo Finance API (query1.finance.yahoo.com):
  • Purpose: Fetch real-time stock quotes
  • Data sent: Only stock symbols (e.g., "AAPL", "TSLA")
  • Privacy: Subject to Yahoo's privacy policy
• SiliconFlow API (api.siliconflow.cn):
  • Purpose: Optional AI market sentiment analysis
  • Requirement: Users must provide their own API key
  • Note: Extension does not include any API keys

5. Chrome Extension Permissions

The extension requests minimal permissions required for functionality:

• storage: Save your optional API key locally on your device (never synced to cloud)
• host_permissions (Yahoo Finance & SiliconFlow): Fetch stock market data from these APIs

Why we need content scripts:

The "Smart Ticker" feature injects a lightweight script on web pages to detect when you highlight stock symbols. This script:

• ✓ Only activates when you manually select text
• ✓ Only processes the specific text you highlight
• ✓ Does NOT read, scan, or transmit any other page content
• ✓ Does NOT track your browsing activity

6. Data Security

• All data stays on your device
• No cloud storage or remote databases
• HTTPS connections for all API requests
• No third-party tracking scripts

7. Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Delete stored API keys anytime in extension settings
• Uninstall the extension to remove all local data
• No account or registration required
